Gingerbread Cookie Houses
These no-bake, kid-friendly gingerbread cottages are the perfect snowy afternoon craft or holiday/winter birthday activity. All you need is icing, candies and store-bought cookies. Gingerbread is classic, but as you can see, whatever rectangular cookie you have in your cupboard will also be pretty sweet!

You'll need
Store-bought rectangular gingerbread, graham crackers or other cookies
A bag of royal icing
Sprinkles, nonpareils or sanding sugar
Candy, to decorate (try lightweight candies for sturdier structures)
Gummy bears (to live in the houses, of course!)

1. With a few lines of royal icing between, sandwich two cookies together. Press gently.
2. Squirt dots of royal icing on cookie base where you want your gummy bears to stand. Gently press bears in place.
3. Line the outer edges of cookies with royal icing, roll sides in sprinkles or sanding sugar.
4. Let stand for a minute or two. Get candy decorations ready. Pipe icing on and adhere candies. Let stand to dry.

Treehouse tip: These makea great party favour or classroom snack, but pack them carefully with a small-size Tupperware container or chinese takeaway-style box.
