More Classic Games Played in a Circle
Perfect for preschoolers, these games are great at parties or other gatherings.
Ring around the Rosie
Children join hands and form a circle. They dance around the circle singing "Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of posies, hush-a, hush-a, we all fall down". At down, all children fall down. While sitting, children sway back and forth singing "The cows are in the meadow, eating up the buttercups, hush-a, hush-a, we all stand up". At up, children stand up again. Repeat.
The Mulberry Bush
Children hold hands while standing in a circle. As they sing the chorus, they dance or skip around the circle. At each action, children stop and do the action as indicated by the song. The chorus is repeated after each action. Children can also take turns inventing and calling out a new action.
For example:
Chorus:
Here we go round the mulberry bush
The mulberry bush, the mulberry bush
Here we go round the mulberry bush
So early in the morning
Action: Brushing teeth
This is the way we brush our teeth
Brush our teeth, brush our teeth
This is the way we brush our teeth
So early in the morning
REPEAT CHORUS
